Deshratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Ltd. Is the largest milk union in the eastern part of India – an industrially deprived region. On 6th May 1992 the D-day when Barauni Dairy was handed over by COMFED(Bihar State Co-operative Milk Federation Ltd.) to the management of Barauni Dugdh Utpadak Sahkari Sangh Ltd(former name).

The present operational area of milk union is Begusarai, Khagaria, Lakhisarai and Part of Patna District. Today there are 2 lac(approx) are members of 2200 village dairy co-operative societies offering milk to union. The collection of milk in dairy is presently around 5 lac KG/day. If the price of milk is calculated at just Rs. 30000 per ton something like Rs. 1.5 crore is flowing back into the rural economy to directly benefit to the poorest of the region daily who were earlier tend to migrate to other states in search of their livelihood.

The product of dairy range from bulk milk in tankers, pouch filling of pasteurized milk (Full cream/Standard/Toned/Cow/Double toned milk), Ghee, White butter, Khoa, Milkcake, Peda, Kalakand, Raskadam, Rasogulla,Chum-Chum, Gulabjamun, Skimed milk Powder, Whole milk Powder, Paneer, Plain Dahi, Sweet Dahi, Lassi, Sudha Special etc. The dairy is well equipped with the state-of-the-art-technology for quick and efficient milk Reception, Processing, Quality control and Storage.

The Dairy is managed by well qualified, competent and experienced technocrats having good managerial skills and team of motivated work force to provide highest quality of products and best of services of customers. The production facilities are backed up by quality assurance, marketing, training, financial management, data processing and other required services. Production activities are supervised by well qualified and experienced dairy technologist. The dairy is committed to supply quality and safe market milk and milk products to its esteemed customers at the right time.

The dairy follows strictly the international norms of hygiene and good manufacturing practices recommended by Codex Alimentarius Commission in reception, processing, manufacturing, packaging, storage and transport in order to ensure a safe, sound and wholesome product reaching the customers.

To further improve the efficiency and effectiveness of dairy performance, DRMU has successfully implemented ISO-9001 Quality Management Systems and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points(HACCP) in plant operation.
